Description
The Starfish Seaport is a large trade seaport to the southwestern side of the city where a lot of overseas trade comes in and out of the city as well as where mermaid fishers bring their spoils. All of the seafood brought into the city come from local mermaid fishers since the merpeople have never fully trusted humans with proper management of sea life and fear there may be overfishing if the humans were allowed to catch fish. Therefore, all of the major seafood shops owned by merpeople are here in the port as well. The on-land shops are managed mostly by humans, so most of the human-mermaid interaction only happens between workers on the port. General management of the port is controlled by the government of Madrenice. During the war, the port has not yet seen much use for naval activity by the military due to the fighting being primarily inland, but rumors ore beginning to spread that the military might have plans to start using the port for transport of units due to changes in the warfront. The merpeople in general will be unhappy if this becomes the case because it could disturb their work.
